"Music
is music whether it is for the stage, rostrum or cinema . Form
may change , the manner of writing may vary, but the composer needs
to make no concessions whatever to what he conceives to be his own
musical ideology ....."
Erich
Wolfgang Korngold (interviewed in 1946)
Our new References page "...The critics want to damn something or throw it to heaven, fairly or
unfairly: [yet] the public will always be the last judge that determines the
death or life of a work. And the Munich public had decided in favor of
Korngold, in an unequivocal manner, with a true emotional outburst that
neither made, nor was the expression of, a cold courteousness." - Dr. Hugo
Strelitzer, 1955 See the full letter from Hugo Strelitzer to Eric Zeisl

New Naxos release KORNGOLD CONCERTO STARRING PHILIPPE QUINT
When the virtuoso concert violinist Philippe Quint first heard the Korngold violin concerto, he fell in love with this sumptuous, romantic and inspiring work. That was some ten years ago. Since then, Quint has been making audiences around the world swoon with his dazzling and heartfelt rendition of the concerto which has more than a little touch of old-school Hollywood about it. Quint’s masterful version of the work
is about to be released on June xx on the Naxos label.
The release of the Korngold violin concerto is Quint’s third CD featuring the classical work of composers who also wrote for Hollywood. His last release in 2008, was the world premiere recording of John Corigliano’s Red Violin Caprices, and before that he recorded the complete works for violin and piano by the Hungarian émigré, Miklos Rosza, better known for his epic soundtrack to Ben Hur. Both CDs received high praise from the mainstream and music press.
Biography of Erich Wolfgang Korngold in German on has just been released.
