Media-related announcements (CDs, DVDs, etc.) will be made below, and general posts will be on our Announcements page. New CD announcements are at the bottom of this page, and on our CDs page.
Korngold in the Netherlands
The music historian Caspar Wintermans has just published a survey of Erich Wolfgang Korngold and the reception of his music in the Netherlands, available in February. Een jongen van brutale zwier : Erich Wolfgang Korngold in Nederland 1910-1958 promises to be an exhaustive study with much rare documentary material, especially covering the close relationship between the young Korngold and legendary conductor, Willem Mengelberg.

A 90-minute documentary made by Tony Palmer in 2004 is finally receiving its long-overdue release. The film provides the background to Austrian violinist Benjamin Schmid's discovery of Korngold's Violin Concerto, and his eventual performance of the work at the opening concert of the 2004 Salzburg Festival, with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Seiji Ozawa. The film is due for release in Europe in October 2014, and in the USA in February 2015.

Escape to Paradise
Daniel Hope's latest album shines a new light on Hollywood scores as he takes a widescreen musical journey, seeking out the echoes of exiled European composers, such as Miklos Rózsa, John Waxman, Hanns Eisler, and Erich Wolfgang Korngold, whose Violin Concerto is the centerpiece of the album. Escape to Paradise is both a historical and musical concept, curated by Daniel Hope, based on a theme with which he has personal associations: his maternal grandparents fled Hitler's Germany for South Africa, and his parents then fled the apartheid regime for England. Guest artists include Sting and Max Raabe.
See our CD Releases page for more details.

* Another Dawn *
The extremely rare 1937 film Another Dawn is available to the general public for the first time! Premiered in June 1937, with a handful of US TV broadcasts in the late 1950s and 1960s, about the only way to view the film since its apparently last US TV broadcast in 1967 was through copies in private collections. The Warner Bros Archive Collection has recently transferred the film to DVD, now available to US customers. Also now available, Escape Me Never (1947), one of Korngold's last film assignments. See our DVD page for more details.
